Insurance excess cover
What is it and do we need it?
Despite our best intentions, we all know that accidents do happen. Motorhomes are expensive and, as you’d expect, it can be expensive to repair them as well. We pride ourselves on the standard and quality of our vehicles and ensure that any damage is repaired to the highest standards.
We include your general motor/hire insurance for the trip within our price, but we hold £1200 on your bank/credit card while you’re away to cover our insurance excess (this is a fixed fee that we are charged by our insurance company). If something happens while you’re away and we need to get it repaired we will take the money from this £1200 (or take the full amount if the cost is greater than £1200).
Before you head off on your roadtrip it’s worth considering taking out ‘insurance excess cover’ in case something happens (damage inside or outside the vehicle) and we need to hold part of the £1200 to pay for the repairs.
What are your options?
You can cover the repairs up to £1200 yourself in which case you don’t need to do anything extra.
You can take out Motorhome Hire Insurance Excess Cover from one of the providers in the UK. We’re not linked with any particular providers but previous guests have used RentalCover.com. Please check that they will cover you for claims against internal and external damage (including overhead and under the vehicle), windscreens, tyres etc.
What happens if something gets damaged?
Firstly, please tell us. We would always rather know and we do understand that these things happen.
Secondly, we will get repairs organised and let you know what the costs will be. We have a number of trusted specialists who we work with to keep our vehicles in the best condition. We will then take the required amount from the £1200 damage deposit you have provided. At this point we can provide you with receipt(s) so you can make a claim against your Motorhome Hire Insurance Excess Cover insurance.
Is there any other insurance that we should consider?
Even if you’re staying in the UK for your holiday, we always recommend taking out personal holiday/travel insurance in case things happen and plans change.
Now that we’ve talked about all the things that might go wrong, why not have a look at some of our trip inspiration blogs to whet your appetite for future trips.
Happy adventuring!
